Episode Narrative Isolated thunderstorms developed during the day on the 11th on the backside of an area of low pressure over Lake Superior. While most of the storms were neither strong nor severe, one storm over rural northeastern Pine County interacted with a lake breeze boundary off Lake Superior and developed a weak, brief tornado over a portion of the Nemadji State Forest. The tornado was rated EF-1 based on tree damage visible on satellite analysis.
Event Narrative A tornado was confirmed via both a radar tornadic debris signature and a comparison of satellite imagery before and after the storm. The rating was estimated by satellite observed damage to trees along the path. The maximum winds were estimated to be 100 mph.
