Marine geologic reconstructions of ENSO, the monsoons, and other aspects of ocean-atmosphere interaction, and the ocean's role in the carbon cycle and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as a means to understand future climate changes driven by the combined influence of natural variability and human influences.
