Year-to-Date Record Setters

The stations shown on the map below had one of their three warmest, coolest, wettest or driest years on record during 2014. Stations with a bold white circle saw values that exceed any previous annual value at the station's current location. The smaller circles indicate 2014 outcomes that are 2nd or 3rd place among a station's history.

Please note: in order to avoid many overlapping or crowded dots in a region, a subset of only about 200 stations across the United States were considered. There are many stations having "top three" or "bottom three" years that are not depicted here. The stations under consideration are listed in other supplemental pages (temperature, precipitation).
