NOAA Monthly Climate Webinar: Looking Back at August 2012

On the third Thursday of each month, NOAA provides monthly climate updates to the public with a webinar and conference call. In this month’s webinar, NOAA climate and weather experts reviewed key findings from NOAA's U.S. and global climate reports for the month of August, provided a temperature and precipitation outlook through December, and discussed the U.S. hazards outlook for the next two weeks. This month’s presenters included Jake Crouch, climatologist at the National Climatic Data Center, and Huug van den Dool, meteorologist at the Climate Prediction Center. Additionally, Walt Meier, a scientist with the Boulder, Colorado-based National Snow and Ice Data Center provide an update on this summer's record-breaking sea ice conditions in the Arctic.

These monthly and seasonal analyses from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center and Climate Prediction Center are part of the suite of climate services NOAA provides government, business, and community leaders so they can make informed decisions to help protect life and property and their economic livelihood.
