New Eastern Region Resource Available: NEclimateUS.org

NOAA, the North Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Environmental Protection Agency facilitated the development of a new regional climate resource portal for much of the Eastern United States. Now operational at NEclimateUS.org, this resource provides weather and climate information for the eastern U.S. region as well as Atlantic Canada and Quebec. Also known as NExUS, this new online database offers access to data and information for Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The resource identifies available data, products, and services; captures planned and ongoing projects; and summarizes needs for climate information as articulated in state climate-adaptation publications. Unlike a general web query, the database’s search tool pinpoints regionally relevant climate information and will display collaborative opportunities across the network of climate-focused programs and partners in the eastern United States.

NExUS is in its early stages of development, and the content will change with time to reflect developments in climate work within the eastern region and in response to individual sector needs as necessary. For detailed information about the content of NExUS and tips for using the site, please visit About NEclimateUS.org.

NCDC is active in developing regional climate products and websites to enhance collaboration among regional institutions and programs. Providing public access to critical data, research, and climate information is a primary objective. For more information about the regional products available from NCDC, please visit the Sectoral and Regional section of our website.
