Earlier this year, NCDC released a new divisional dataset based on daily data from the Global Historical Climatology Network and using a 5-km gridded approach. At that time, the dataset, known as nClimDiv, contained average temperature and precipitation data as well as a variety of drought indicators. As a supplement to the nClimDiv dataset, NCDC is now announcing the release of divisional monthly maximum and minimum temperature data and products, which provide added detail to the historical climate record. These data and products are available at divisional, statewide, regional, and national scales for the contiguous United States. Overall, these data will help scientists analyze how maximum and minimum temperatures vary throughout time as well as from month to month and location to location.
