This project developed historically reliable data sets on freezing rain occurrences and ice storm losses. The specific objectives were to develop enhanced climatological data sets and make these data available to the scientific, government and business communities. This project was done in cooperation with the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC).

This volume includes the following data sets:
1) Frequency of days per month with freezing rain as recorded at over 235 first order stations.
2) Frequency of days per month with freezing rain as recorded at over 740 cooperative observer (and some airport) stations.
3) Frequency of hours per month with freezing rain as recorded at over 235 first order stations.
4) Ice storm loss data for 1949-2000 based on property insurance data.

This CD-ROM was created by Changnon Climatologist, Mahomet, IL. The project was funded under grant NA16GP1585 from the Office of Global Programs of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
