AMSU-A Brightness Temperature

Sample product image of NOAA CDR AMSU-A Brightness Temperature; it depicts temperature in Kelvin across the globe.

This dataset provides advanced scientific researchers a high quality Climate Data Record (CDR) of sensor brightness temperatures (BT).

The NOAA CDR of Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit-A (AMSU-A) BT for "window channels" covers a time period from 1998-2010, with an update through 2016 anticipated by the end of the year. The data is roughly at 48km resolution over the entire globe with 30 observations per scan, using channels covering 23, 31, 50, and 89 GHz. The AMSU-A sensor is flown on NOAA-15, -16, -17, -18, -19 and MetOp-A satellites. Visual inspections and verification of the calibration corrections were applied to the data to improved data accuracy.
