A period of overrunning snow fell across the northern half of DDC???s County Warning Area (CWA) during the overnight hours of Tuesday, January 8th, 2008. The snow began just before midnight CST in Hamilton County in the northwest tip of our CWA, and then quickly spread eastward. By 6 am CST Tuesday, 2 to 3 inches of snowfall was in a 15 to 30 mile wide swath from Scott City in Scott County to Garden City in Finney County to Ness City in Ness County to St. John in Stafford County. A rather narrow band, from 5 to 15 miles wide, of 1 to 2 inches of snow fell surrounding this swath, and was basically north of a line from Syracuse (Hamilton Co) to Sublette (Haskell Co) to Jetmore (Hodgeman Co) to east of St. John (Stafford Co) to Hays (Ellis Co) to Dighton (Lane Co). |
