| Episode Narrative | A winter storm brought a swath of heavy snow to parts of central Alabama during the morning hours of January 19. The main band of snow accumulation was roughly bounded on the north side by Interstate 20, and on the south side by Interstate 85. The heaviest snow, accumlating from 2 to 5 inches, fell in a band from Marengo and southern Sumter Counties, northeastward into Coosa County. Because ground temperatures were just above freezing, much of the snow outside of the highest snow band melted within an hour or two after the snow ended. Area streets saw only minor impacts from the snow, and most roads were free from snow before nightfall. |
