| Episode Narrative | An area of low pressure moved northeast from the central Gulf of Mexico off the North Carolina on January 17th. Precipitation began as snow before warmer air moved in aloft. This changed snow to a mix of sleet and freezing rain and ended as freezing drizzle. Significant accumulations of snow and sleet were reported with only a trace of ice. The highest snowfall accumulations, up to 5 inches, were reported in Berkeley and Pendleton counties. An average of 2 to 4 inches was reported across the remainder of the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. |
