| Episode Narrative | On December 1, 2007 a strong low pressure system tracked from western Kansas to northern Wisconsin. Warm moist air aloft, combined with surface temperatures below freezing, created ideal conditions for a significant ice storm. Some areas also reported significant accumulations of sleet. Ice accumulations of 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch, combined with winds gusting to 30 to 40 mph, knocked down some branches and trees causing scattered power outages. Law enforcement reported many cars that slid into ditches. However, the impacts from this storm were much less, when compared to the crippling ice storm that struck the region on February 24, 2007. |
