| Episode Narrative | The drought re-intensified from extreme(D3) to exceptional (D4) over Northeast Mississippi and from severe(D2) to extreme(D3) over North Central Mississippi during the month of August due to below normal rainfall. |
| Event Narrative | A severe drought(D2) re-intensified to an extreme drought(D3) during the month of August across portions of North Central Mississippi while an extreme drought(D3) re-intensified to exceptional(D4)over Northeast Mississippi. Rainfall was about 2 inches below normal for the month increasing the yearly deficit to around 14 inches below normal. The drought continued to impact agricultural and hydrological interests of the area. Burn bans in some locations were also re-issued due to the lack of rainfall. |
