A combination of daytime heating that led to a generally unstable atmosphere and lift provided by the terrain of the Gila region led to the development of widespread showers and thunderstorms.
Event Narrative Dispatch reported water coming over railroad road in Santa Clara at the low water crossing. Nearby COCORAHS sites reported between .50 inches and 1.00 inches of rainfall during the event.
