| Episode Narrative |
The upper trough that had persisted across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley region for much of the week had drifted east toward the eastern Great Lakes. The associated frontal system was nearly stationary from central Virginia into northwest North Carolina, or roughly from Washington D.C. to near Winston-Salem North Carolina. The frontal system remained the focus for isolated to scattered afternoon and evening shower and thunderstorm development. A supercell thunderstorm developed across southern Rockingham county North Carolina and moved quickly north-northeast into south central Virginia. The thunderstorm produced minor wind damage in Henry county Virginia. Penny-sized hail was also reported. |
