| Episode Narrative |
A few strong thunderstorms developed along the Blue Ridge Mountains during the early evening thanks to strong low level heating and a weakness in an upper level ridge as it was exiting the forecast area for the southeastern states. Moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac was just beginning to build into the area from the lower Ohio River Valley, but deep moisture was still further to the west. Instability was somewhat limited during the afternoon, with CAPE values forecast to be around 500-700 J/kg and LI values around -1 to -2. Light mid and upper level winds were conducive for slow moving thunderstorm activity. |
