Episode Narrative A strong storm system moving across the central plains brought very strong northwesterly winds to portions of western Nebraska during the late afternoon and evening hours. Behind the cold front, a few locations reported wind damage and wind gusts in excess of 58 mph.
Event Narrative Severe wind gusts in excess of 60 mph caused blowing dust and reduced visibilities on Interstate 80. This attributed to an accident reported 10 miles east of Chappell causing closure of Interstate 80 at mile marker 96. The accident involved 3 semi trucks with 1 person treated and released with injury. The interstate was closed from 630 pm cst to 930 pm cst.
