A weak area of low pressure existed over northern Oklahoma, allowing a cluster of thunderstorms to develop across northwest Oklahoma by mid-afternoon. Unseasonably hot temperatures promoted strong evaporative cooling below storm bases, resulting in severe wind gusts, with damage reported. |
