| Episode Narrative | Severe thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and evening across portions on Virginia on May 3rd, 2012. These storms were the result of an upper level disturbance moving northward from the Gulf of Mexico, bringing large amounts of tropical moisture into the area. The abundant moisture, when combined with afternoon temperatures warming into the 80s and upslope flow across the mountains, allowed some of the storms to produce large hail. |
