A cold front moved slowly eastward into very warm unstable air during the evening of May 23rd and across the Minnesota Arrowhead beginning the morning of May 24th. Thunderstorms with very heavy rain and intense lightning resulted in reports of 3 to 4 inches of rain across Pine, Carlton, St Louis, Lake and Cook Counties of northern MN. Flash flooding affected Route 61 in Cook County on the 24th. |
