Thunderstorms developed along a cold front across western Minnesota during the afternoon of May 23rd, and moved slowly eastward. However, additional thunderstorms developed south and raced northeast across south central and east central Minnesota, some of which produced severe wind gusts in excess of 70 mph at times. |

A private wind sensor measured a wind gust of 59 mph west of Prior Lake, Minnesota. In addition, two trees were blown down east of the measured wind gust, one had a six inch diameter base. |
