Episode Narrative Large hail was the primary threat across the southeastern plains of New Mexico during the afternoon and evening of May 7th. Thunderstorms increased in coverage and intensity within a post-frontal upslope regime. Strong instabilty and 40 to 50 knots of deep layer shear supported a few severe storms across Chaves County.
Event Narrative Penny size hail reported 4 miles east of Elk.
