Episode Narrative Very hot temperatures returned over Oklahoma after a brief hiatus ahead of a cold front that was moving through Kansas during the afternoon of the 12th. Ahead of the front, several outflow boundaries were located over southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma. Very hot temperatures contributed to a very unstable atmosphere over all of Oklahoma, with thunderstorms developing by mid afternoon. The thunderstorms first formed over parts of central and south-central Oklahoma, and drifted northeast. A severe gust estimated at 70 mph was reported near Lindsay. A larger complex of storms developed over southern Kansas and moved southeast into Oklahoma. More widespread severe weather occurred with this complex, as it organized over Oklahoma. Several locations reported wind gusts over 60 mph, some of which caused damage.
