Overall, May was another dry month for southeastern sections of Central Alabama. Monthly rainfall southeast ranged from less than one inch to just over three inches. The entire range was below normal. Additionally, hot weather developed at the end of May which increased the drought effects. May ended with Severe Drought (D2) and Extreme Drought (D3) conditions existing over southeastern sections. These drought conditions affected Barbour, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Macon and Lee Counties. |
