| Episode Narrative | All of Northeast Texas was classified as being in a D3 Extreme Drought to begin the month of April. Those conditions continued through mid month when beneficial rainfall effected the northern third of Northeast Texas...north of the Interstate 20 corridor. By the end of the month...the northern third of Northeast Texas fell to D2 Severe Drought conditions. However...the southern half of Northeast Texas missed out on much of the rainfall through the month, and therefore, their drought conditions became worse and by the end of April, the southern half of Northeast Texas were classified as D4 Exceptional Drought conditions. The following are a few selected cities across Northeast Texas with their April rainfall totals and departures from normal as well as the 2011 rainfall totals and departures from normal. Tyler April rainfall was 3.25. The departure from normal was -0.45.|Tyler yearly rainfall was 9.25. The departure from normal was -5.48.|Longview April rainfall was 3.07. The departure from normal was -0.85.|Longview yearly rainfall was 10.61. The departure from normal was -5.25.|Lufkin April rainfall was 1.55. The departure from normal was -1.58.|Lufkin yearly rainfall was 10.20. The departure from normal was -4.08. |
