An upper level low pressure system in the northern Plains moved into the Midwest on January 10-11, 2011. In the meantime, an inverted trough extended into eastern Iowa from a surface low pressure in Kentucky. The result was snow accumulations of generally 3 to 5 inches across portions of eastern Iowa, western Illinois and extreme northeast Missouri. This area was mainly south of Interstate 80. However, there was an isolated amount of about 6 inches reported in extreme northeast Missouri. |
