A strong cutoff low was located over far Southwest Arizona. The nose of a 100 knot jet was rounding the low and moving into Southern New Mexico and Far West Texas. A surface trough was also located near the Rio Grande Valley. All of these features combined to produce severe thunderstorms with hail to the size of baseballs reported. |
