Unstable conditions associated with an upper trough west of the state led to heavy rain over three islands. There were no reports of serious property damage or injuries. |

A couple of mainland visitors to Maui became stranded by rising waters on East Maui Irrigation property in the later afternoon on the 19th. A text message from the couple to a friend on the mainland was then relayed to the Maui police. A rescue crew from the Maui Fire Department was dispatched, and the two visitors were located just before dark and transported to safety. There were no serious injuries to anyone involved in the incident. Details are from the Maui News of October 21, 2010. |
