Episode Narrative A complex of strong to severe thunderstorms developed across northeast South Dakota, and moved into west-central Minnesota during the early morning hours of Sunday, May 23rd. This storms moved through northern Lac Qui Parle and western Swift Counties and produced half inch diameter hail around Appleton, before moving into Pope County and produced quarter size hail near Pelican Lake. No strong wind was reported as these storms moved rapidly to the northeast at 40 to 45 mph. Wind shear parameters were holding around 40 to 45 knots with embedded bow-echo segments moving into the warning areas.
