| Episode Narrative | A low pressure center moved northeastward from Louisiana to eastern Kentucky by the early morning hours of the 9th. This brought a wide swath of snowfall to southeast Missouri and the Lower Ohio Valley. The heaviest snow fell southeast of the Ohio River, but extended across portions of southern Indiana, closer to the track of the intensifying storm system. Snowfall amounts ranged from four to eight inches. The four-inch amounts were mainly from Henderson southwest along the Ohio River to Paducah and Fulton. The highest amounts were around seven inches from Owensboro to Madisonville and Princeton. Many schools were cancelled. A number of accidents occurred. In Caldwell County, a woman was injured when she lost control of her pickup truck and slid down an embankment. The pickup truck overturned. On U.S. Highway 62 east of Princeton, a tractor-trailer truck became stuck on a hill. The highway was blocked for about 40 minutes. Gusty winds in the wake of the storm caused some minor blowing and drifting snow. Sub-freezing temperatures in the wake a cold front and potent upper-level disturbance preserved the snow cover into the end of the week. |
