| Episode Narrative | A large ridge of high pressure combined with a retreating area of low pressure across the southern Great Lakes, to produce strong northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph for western and southern Minnesota. As temperatures fell into the teens below zero, wind chills values averaged between 25 and 45 below zero from Thursday evening through Friday morning. The following are some communities that had measured wind chills during this time period. Morris in Stevens County had a low wind chill of 42 below. |Appleton in western Swift County had a low wind chill of 41 below.|Madison in Lac Qui Parle County had a low wind chill of 38 below. |Canby in Yellow Medicine County had a low wind chill of 37 below. |
