Episode Narrative Thunderstorms developed near a southward moving cold front under marginally strong deep layer wind shear. The combination of effective shear of 30 to 35 knots and moderate instability supported isolated storms that were near severe levels. Some of the storms produced very heavy rain that caused localized flooding.
