Episode Narrative An upper level low pressure system sliding east across the central Rockies created strong southwest winds over the sacramento mountains on the morning of the 30th. Winds shifted to the northwest during the afternoon as a cold front moved southeast through the region.
Event Narrative The Dora Mesonet measured sustained wind gusts equal to or exceeding 40 mph for approximately 3 hours. The highest sustained wind speed was 49 mph. A peak wind gust of 61 mph occurred at 310 pm MST. Strong winds caused the roof on the Portales Dream Center to peel off the sheet-metal roof around 100 pm MST.
