| Episode Narrative |
An area of low pressure moving east into the central plains developed a band of moderate to heavy snow across portions of northwest and north central North Dakota beginning Friday afternoon, January 2nd, lasting into the early morning hours of Saturday, January 3rd. In addition to around six inches of snow accumulation across this area, gusty east to northeasterly winds of 20 to 35 mph created areas of significant blowing and drifting snow, which prompted the issuance of no travel advisories by law enforcement Friday night into Saturday morning. |
| Event Narrative |
Cooperative observers measured six inches of snow in Westhope and 7.7 inches at Lake Metigoshi State Park. In addition, gusty easterly winds of 20 to 35 mph resulted in significant blowing and drifting snow. |
