Episode Narrative A passing storm system swept warmer northward leading to freezing rain and freezing drizzle across parts of southeast Minnesota during the late afternoon hours on January 3rd through the early morning hours on January 4th. The thin coating of ice created hazardous travel conditions and icy roadways across southeast Minnesota.
Event Narrative National Weather Service employee in Austin measured three sixteenths of an inch of ice accumulation and a cooperative observer in Grand Meadow reported a light glaze on exposed surfaces.
