Episode Narrative Very light winds, no cloud cover, and a high pressure system nosing into northwestern Alabama produced a good radiational cooling situation for strong radiational cooling. With cold and dry air moving in behind a departed cold front, temperatures dropped below freezing for several hours across Lawrence and Franklin counties. Temperatures ranged from 24 or 25 degrees in the coldest locations to around 31 degrees in other locations.
Event Narrative Countywide temperatures dropped below 32 degrees for more than 3 hours. Lows reached at some COOP sites were as follows: Belgreen - 32 and Russelville Airport 24. Another COOP site near the Russellville Airport recorded a low of 28 degrees.
