Episode Narrative A large winter storm system moved out of the southern Plains to the lower Great Lakes region December 18 to 19 bringing snow, freezing rain and sleet to much of the Upper Midwest. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 9 inches were common in far southern Minnesota along and south of Interstate 90, with highest amounts near the Minnesota Iowa border. Highest totals included 8.5 inches at Harmony (Fillmore County) and 8.4 inches at Grand Meadow (Mower County).
Event Narrative Public reports included 8.4 inches at Grand Meadow and 6.5 inches at KAAL television in Austin.
