| Episode Narrative | Severe drought conditions /D2/ were maintained during the month of July in all of northeast and much of north central Alabama. Rains were of the typical summertime spotty variety. The heaviest rains fell in the Capshaw and Harvest communities northwest of Huntsville in Madison County, and in Vinemont and Cullman in Cullman County. Both of those locations received over five inches of rain, with isolated locations receiving over seven inches of rain. Rainfall in the Quad Cities region was only around one inch, and communities from Guntersville to Crossville and Boaz to Scottsboro saw less than an inch of rain for the month. Rivers, still feeling the effects of the 2007 drought, dropped to base-flow quicker than usual following rainfalls and there was not yet enough groundwater recharge to raise baseflow permanently. |
