| Episode Narrative | Upper shortwave was moving east-northeast from the Gulf of Mexico during the late afternoon and into the evening, with a moist and unstable air mass at the surface. At the same time, a 130 knot upper jet lifted northward from the Gulf of Mexico. This combination of moisture, instability, and strong wind fields aloft allowed for the development of organized severe storms. |
