Heavy rains during the second half of April caused several area rivers including the Mississippi River between Rock Island, Illinois and Keokuk, Iowa to not only surpass their respective flood stage, but also go over their major river stage level. At the beginning of May, locations from Rock Island to Burlington were over their major flood stage level. All of these locations fell below their respective major flood stage level between May 4 and May 9. |
