According to data from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center,during July, there were 104 preliminary tornado reports. This is below the 1991-2010 average of 134 for the month. There were no wide-spread tornado outbreaks during July with mostly isolated tornadoes across the Central and Northern Plains, as well as parts of the Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast. Nearly all of the tornadoes reported were weak, with no tornado-related fatalities. The below-average preliminary tornado count during July contributed to a below-average year-to-date count. For January-July, there were 768 preliminary tornado reports, with 435 preliminary tornado reports awaiting confirmation for May-July. The 1991-2010 January-July average number of tornadoes is 852.
