The Arand software package is a time series and spectral analysis application
written by Philip Howell at Brown University.
It is available in both Macintosh and Windows versions.
Arand contains 7 components: Ager, Timer, Interp, Spectral, Crospec, Filter,
and Smooth. These components allow the user to assign time
to depth from an age model, interpolate data at an even time step,
perform spectral and cross-spectral analysis, and filter data.
The software was updated in January 2012.
The Macintosh version of the Arand software requires
a Mac with an Intel processor. The software is compatible with OS 10.7 (Lion)
and higher, but also runs under most OS configurations as old as 10.5.x
provided the Macintosh is running Java 1.5.0_30 or higher.
The Windows version of the Arand software
requires the Java Runtime Environment 7 (jre7) or higher.
This is also referred to as Java SE (Standard Edition) 7.
