|
The second lake from which scientists retrieved sediment cores was Lake Punta Laguna, located in the northeastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula about 20 km N-NE of Coba, a major Mayan
archaeological site. Punta Laguna consists of three interconnected basins, each with a maximum depth of about 20-m. The coring site was located in the far basin in a water depth of about 6.3-m.
