Temperature

January temperatures in western Beringia range from below -40°C in the interior valleys to around -17°C along the eastern Siberian coast. January temperatures in eastern Beringia are normally around -30°C in northwestern Alaska and around -15°C along the southwest Alaskan coast. Over western Beringia, averaged July temperatures are somewhat warmer along the coast (around 12°C) as compared to inland (around 10°C). Averaged July temperatures for eastern Beringia generally exhibit a north-south gradient of increasing temperature, varying from 5-12°C, but some west-east gradient exist due to coastal influences from the Bering Sea. The highest temperatures are centered in the eastern interior of Alaska.
