Precipitation

Winter precipitation throughout most of Beringia is normally at its lowest during the course of the annual cycle, with many locations experiencing averaged January amounts of less than 25 mm except for in southeastern Russia and south coastal Alaska. Throughout most of Beringia, precipitation exhibits a mid-late summer maximum. Averaged July precipitation exhibits a general north-south gradient in western Beringia, with values varying from 50-100 mm, though topographic influences provide exceptions. July precipitation over most of eastern Beringia is generally around 80 mm, with some values in the high mountain ranges exceeding 100 mm.
