Terminology

The 18,000 yr. B.P. time slice examined in the Atlas is actually 17,600 ¹⁴C yr. B.P..  The 18,000 yr. B.P. number is used as a convenient rounding point.  We realize that this is less than ideal.  It will cease to be a problem once we calibrate our records with calendar ages in the winter of 1998-1999.
