World Data Center Partner Sites

The World Data Center encourages partnership activities with other data centers to promote the use of paleoclimate data. We are no longer able to support the technology that mirrored this site in other locations, but are working to develop the following types of partnerships.

Thematic partnerships

These partnerships are organized around regions or themes such as fire history. The partner sites develop unique content such as Spanish translations of paleoclimate data and information, or fire history portals, and also provide access to data collections. Partners include:

Centro Regional de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas (CRICYT)

Fire Research And Management Exchange System

Data-sharing partnerships (under development)

These partnerships are organized around the Open Architecture Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) and several standards for describing data sets (DIF, FGDC, Dublin Core, and in near future ISO). We have implemented the OAI-PMH protocol so that partner sites can harvest data set descriptions from the World Data Center for Paleoclimatology. Also, this protocol help us harvest our partners data set descriptions. Partners include:

Publishing Network for Geoscientific & Environmental Data (Pangaea)

Past Global Changes (PAGES)
