Agassiz Ice Cap Data |
The Ice Core Data
|
| Four ice cores from the top of the Agassiz Ice Cap have been variously analyzed for delta 18-O, direct current electrical conductivity (ecm), accumulation, and ice-melt layer stratigraphy. Stratagraphic correlation of volcanic horizons is used to date the last 8000 years of the cores. The timescales at the Wisconsin/Holocene transition need to be streched to match the pinned transiton in the GRIP or GISP2 ice cores. |
The Snowpit Data
|
| Two deep pit/auger sequences from the top of the Agassiz Ice Cap have also been analyzed for delta 18-O, ECM, and ice-melt layer stratigraphy. Generally, the pit data can be spliced on top of the core data for a continuous record down from the ice cap surface. |
