North Greenland Ice Core Project (NGRIP)

NGRIP is a multinational research program, funded by participating institutions in Germany, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Iceland and the US. Primary sponsor is the Danish Research Council.
The NGRIP drilling location is near the Greenland ice divide, 75.1°N, 42.3°W. Drilling began in the 1996 field season, and reached bedrock at a depth of 3090m on July 25th, 2004. For more information on NGRIP, please see the Niels Bohr Institute Centre for Ice and Climate.
