Paleoclimate
Data Access Page
| The following
list of paleoclimate data links highlights a small sample offered
by the World Data Center for Paleoclimatology at NOAA. For a more
complete list of past climatic reconstructions, go to their Climate
Reconstructions page. All reconstructions were derived by paleo
proxies. |

The
Data page from the North American Drought: A Paleo Perspective
will access paleoclimate data going back 10,000 years before present.
The website includes climatic animations for El Niño Southern
Oscillation (ENSO) cycles and for the Palmer Drought Severity Index
reconstructed from tree ring proxy data. Areas of focus include the
Great Plains, New Mexico, Mexico and historic Jamestown, Virginia.
The Data page is a subsection of a more in depth study of drought
in North America.

The
Data page from A Paleo Perspective... On Global Warming
provides global temperature summaries for instrumental records over
the past 140 years and paleoclimate data going back 1,000 years and
beyond. The Data page is a subsection of a comprehensive website focussing
on temperature variability throughout the ages.

The BIOME
6000 Vegetation Reconstruction page offers data sets for global
paleovegetation maps covering 6000 and 18,000 years before present.
The reconstructions were created using pollen and plant macrofossil
proxies. In particular, check out the BIOME
6000 Database to retrieve regional maps from around the world.

Ice
Coverage Reconstructions at 1Kyr Intervals since the Last Glacial
Maximum provides two views to compare ice coverage for two different
time periods--going back 21,000 years before present.

The
Paleoclimatology Database , an ArcIMS site, provides access
to a variety of resources including the International Tree-Ring
Data Bank data, Palmer Drought Reconstructions, paleolimnological
data and images of climate research conducted on coral reefs. The
site allows users to display, browse, query, and download data and
images from an interactive map.
